Four Months Kung Fu course till March 2026
Why did I choose China Kunyu Mountain for Kung Fu training ?
I wanted to try something new and challenge myself in a way that I hadn’t done before at a traditional Kung Fu school in the mountains.
What is your greatest gain from your martial arts training?
My greatest gain is probably being exposed to all the amazing athletes that attended the school. They showed me what was possible with hard work and dedication through Kung Fu training.
Who influenced and helped you during your period in the academy?
Shifu and the older students (long-term students) at the Kung Fu school.
Brief summary of my experience in the academy:
While attending the school, I usually trained three times a day. Early morning Tai Chi (6:30), morning mandatory training (9:00), where you would go over martial arts forms with the coaches or Shifus. Lunch was at 12, then a midday break. Afternoon training started at 2:30. I usually participated in the Sanda classes, which were my favorite. Training ended at 4:30, then dinner at 5:30. I think the best thing about the school is that it really is a tight-knit community. People come from all over the world who want to strengthen their minds and bodies through Kung Fu.
Everyone is supportive of your journey here, at all different levels. It is hard work and taxing on your body, but with everyone pushing and motivating you, you get through it and become better at what you are working on. It makes this mountain Kung Fu school unique and worth coming to.
What do you think about the surroundings of the academy?
The scenery around the school is beautiful, and it makes it feel like a little retreat. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and focus on training in the mountains.

Why did I choose China Kunyu Mountain: I loved martial arts and was learning Chinese, so I decided to experience Kung Fu in China at a traditional Kung Fu school.
What is your greatest gain ? An appreciation for discipline and the work that is put into becoming good at something. In addition, I gained an appreciation for Chinese culture and the surrounding landscape.
Who influenced and helped you during your period in the academy?
Shifu Liu was an incredible influence on my study here. While teaching me and another student the Seven Star form, he thoroughly explained how to produce power for each movement. This really increased my understanding of the form. Brief summary of my experience in the academy: My daily life at Kunyu was full. Tai Chi in the morning, followed by breakfast, cleaning, training, lunch, a much-needed nap, more training, dinner, and relaxing.
Everyone was so encouraging. It didn’t matter if you failed—what mattered was that you tried. I hope I will have the opportunity to come back again one day to continue my Kung Fu training.
Surroundings :
The surrounding area of the school is stunning: mountains, a temple, lakes, and a small village. It is peaceful—a beautiful place to immerse yourself in training in the mountains.
