Why did I choose China Kunyu mountain for Kung Fu training?

I chose to come to China to learn Kung Fu as I have always been amazed by martial arts (specially Wing Chun) show in popular media by practitioners such as Donnie Ye, Ip Man, Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. I finished studying for my degree and graduated this summer and was lost in terms of what to do. After some online research I found Kunyu school ad, knew it was where I wanted to be. My strongest motivation for learning Kung Fu was the mental discipline required in addition to the physical capabilities developed while learning (speed/ acrobatic ability/agility/conditioned body).

What is your greatest gain from your martial arts training?

My greatest gain from my Wing Chun training was the feeling of achievement, enlightenment and self-improvement after learning steps and stances and Xiao Nian Tou. It gave me a massive boost in confidence displaying it in front of my Shifu and classmates. It made me feel proud of myself in a way independent to other achievements.

Who influenced and helped you during your period in the Kunyu school?

My biggest influence aside from Shifu Guo and Coach Emil was my roommate Jeremy. He helped me with learning forms, being punctual and motivating me to come to early morning Tai Chi. As well as him, Nemi and Stanley helped me significantly in learning Xiao Nian Tou, showing unlimited patience and encouragement. Ties was also a great help in learning the basic Wing Chun applications when I first arrived, as well as Rafa who helped me with everything Wing Chun and Tai Chi. All of whom I mentioned above deserve comedation/recognition as role models in your school.

Brief summary of my experience in the academy:

My daily schedule at the school was wake up, go to Tai Chi, morning Wing Chun for 2 weeks. I done Sanda (MON- TUESDAY), then the last 2 weeks I done Chi Gong and broke the bricks. I enjoyed every day of training and really enjoyed Master Guo’s training. He is very patient and knowledgable and is truly a master of his discipline. I also thoroughly enjoyed Sanda with the coach every Thursday. It was the highlight of my week by masters and was also great with Shifu Zhang, thanks to him I can now do a backflip (sort of). James was a great help as a translator and a friend, without him most of my learning would not have been possible. He’s a great guy.

What do you think about the surroundings of the academy?

The surroundings of the school are beautiful, and perfectly embody the spirit of the school and provide an overwhelming sense of peace. It is an amazing location.

My Review of Kung Fu training at China Kunyu mountain China is the birthplace of Kung Fu with a long tradition. I have always been interested in China, but the martial arts interest comes from my brother who spent a long time in this school.

Your greatest gain from your martial arts training?

I’m very proud to have learned to forms to practice further. My biggest gain is a better understanding of my own body and how to replicate movements.

Who influenced and helped you during your period in the academy? I got a lot of feedbacks from shifu Zhang that helped me progress. Coach Emil helped navigate China and shared his experiences as an expat. But generally all students were so helpful!

Brief summary of my Review :

I trained in Shaolin Group with Master Zhang. I would concentrate on learning Tong Bei Quan. For afternoon classey I experienced both Qi Gong and Sanda. It was a nice combination, but without many masters in the school currently, choices were limited.

Surroundings:

The environment is beautiful . Seeing the mountains often gave me extra energy on my runs.

Why did I choose China to learn Kungfu?

I chose China, because I am interested in learning Qi Gong and Tai Ji What is your greatest gain :The greatest benefit I gained was finding a martial art like Tai ji, which greatly helped my concentration. I also really enjoyed the other classes, such as caligraphy, massage, Chinese and acupuncture.

Brief summary of my review of China Kunyu mountain:

My shifu helped me a lot to improve my steps and techniques in Tai Ji. The same goes for the coach who guided and mended me a lot. Also my stay at the academy was very pleasant because the students are helpful and very friendly.

Surroundings :The location is very good. We are in a fairly quiet place. I really love this place because I feel safe here.
