Why did I choose China to study Kungfu?
I chose China because I wanted to study traditional martial arts at the source, in a real training environment. I had been watching the academy website for many years. The website was very informative and showed a genuine connection to traditional training, daily life and lineage. Over time it felt like the right place to be, not commercial or flashy, but serious about training.
What is your greatest gain from your martial arts training?
My greatest gain has been consistency and depth. Training every day through all seasons I Have gained strength, flexibility, structure, patience and a much clearer understanding of Taiji, Baji and Wing Chun.
Who influenced and helped you during your time at Kunyu?
My Shifu and Coach Emil had the biggest influence on my training. Shifu’s knowledge, and mastery of experience are exceptional and his teaching has shaped my understanding of the arts in a meaningful way. Coach Emil’s dedication, consistency and attention to detail made a big difference in my daily practice. Their guidance, both in class, and through example was the strongest part of my experience at the school.
Brief summary of my experience in the academy:
Life at Kunyu Mountain is simple, disciplined, and focused. Daily training is structured and demanding, but there is balance. All masters and coaches are serious about preserving traditional Kung FU. The translators, especially James and Flora play an important role in helping international students understand not just the instructions but also local knowledge and Chinese culture.
What do you think about the surroundings of the academy?
The surroundings are one of the schools greatest strengths. Kunyu Mountain is peaceful and grounding with clean air, natural beauty with a strong sense of history at the Temple.
The mountains and lakes create an ideal environment for training and reflection. Muping City and Yantai City are close enough for convenience, but far enough away that life on the Mountain stays quiet and focused. It is a very special place to live and train.

Stanley spent One year course at China Kunyu mountain.

Why China Kunyu Mountain:
Kung Fu originates from China and I believe it’s the best to learn from the origin. Besides, have always been fascinated by Chinese culture and I wanted to learn more about it.
Greatest gain :
I think I gained a lot of fitness, strength and especially coordination. I feel like I especially learnt a lot from Qi Gong and Tai Chi. Also my mind has been challenged a lot in my time here.
Who influenced and helped you :
The Shifus, coaches, translators, monitors and all students and Jennifer. Summary of my reviews in the academy: There was a solid structure of classes, which I really enjoyed.
