 Feb 24th, 2024, Jerome celebrated the Lantern Festival together.

I chose the kung fu school in Kunyu Mountain Kung Fu academy because it is very famous in France and teach a very good Shaolin kung fu. My biggest gain is surpassing myself because here we can always go further. I feel much stronger psychologically and physically. 

 My Shifu XU, my pushed always further because he always knows what we are capable of, he will see it right away. The students gave me a great help because I don't speak English or Chinese at all I only speak French, Eric and Flora helped me in everyday life and a big thanks to Surf for taking us where we wanted to go.   

I acquired two shapes thanks to my Master XU, I was able as it was planned to break a brick with my head because yes it is possible just you want it. Doing kung Fu from the whole day was a great experience because no school in France can give it.

 The kunyu mountain is very very beautiful, you breathe good air, the people of the village are very welcoming and there is very good honey, the city of Yantai and very well you can make your Shaolin costume there and the museums are free, but I preferred to go for a walk on the island of Muping.

 My first connection to martial arts was when I was a child and teenager, where I trained for 2 years Judo (8-10 years old) and Kenpo (12-14 years old). Later I tried Kungfu Lotus for 1 year (20 years). Also I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine for 5 years (19-23 years old) in Portugal where I trained Qi Gong and Tai Ji. I found out that my colleague Matthieu was coming so I decided to join. 

 My greatest gain was to get back to discipline and practicing sports because I didn’t do much in the past 3 years beside TCM classes. I remembered also that I love and need to practice martial arts almost everyday. Master Xu, Romka, Matthieu, Ammir and all the students and masters that I interacted the most. The first 2 weeks were very hard because of the intensity of the Kung Fu training and and I got a lot of pain in the knees and ankle (I almost couldn’t walk and train properly). But then in the third week my body got used to the training and got stronger and the pain just disappeared. 

 The surroundings of school are really nice specially the mountains, the temples and the Nature in general. Yantai I will only visit in this weekend before leaving. I hope I can come back for more time in 1 or 2 years and keep training everyday. 

I will also train Kung Fu in Portugal when I come back. Thank you so much for everything, it was an amazing and unique experience to experience the Shaolin lifestyle! I will try to keep in myself the mindset and habits of a warrior.
